Summer has a way of changing the rhythm of family life.

The days stretch a little longer. Breakfast turns into a slow morning. Shoes are kicked off at the door. Children drift between outdoor adventures, imaginative play, and moments of quiet creativity.

As mothers ourselves, we always love this season. There is something about summer that naturally invites children to create. Perhaps it's the slower pace, the freedom from routine, or simply having more time to follow their imagination wherever it wants to go.

We also know that, alongside the adventures and holidays, there are those moments when everyone needs something simple and meaningful to do together. With that in mind, we wanted to leave you with a little gift before we all disappear into our own summer adventures.

A Simple Project with a Magical Surprise

This project is inspired by one of the things we love most about the Toverlux lamp: the way light can transform a picture into something magical.

At first, the fish appears quite ordinary. When the lamp is switched off, you'll see a colourful fish swimming peacefully. But when the light is turned on, something magical happens! The underwater world hidden behind the fish begins to shine through. Sea plants appear, magical fins come to life, and hidden details suddenly reveal themselves. The same picture transforms into something completely new.

It's a simple effect, but one that often brings a smile and a little moment of wonder.

Why We Love Open-Ended Creativity

One of the things we value most is giving children room to create in their own way.

There is no right colour palette, no perfect fish, and no single way the finished silhouette should look. Some children may create a bright rainbow fish. Others may choose soft ocean blues and greens. Some might carefully colour every tiny detail, while others work with bold splashes of colour.

Every fish becomes a reflection of the child who created it.

What we especially love about this project is that it can be only the beginning. The idea of placing two drawings on top of each other, with one image visible by day and another revealed by light, opens up so many possibilities for imagination.

A child could draw the body of a butterfly on the front layer, and when the lamp is switched on, colourful wings appear behind it. Or bare branches could slowly transform into a tree full of blossom. A little house might reveal glowing windows, a moon could uncover hidden stars, or a sleeping fox could wake inside a magical forest.

In this way, the download is not just a template to follow, but an invitation to keep creating. We hope it inspires children and parents to dream up their own layered silhouettes, to ask “what could appear when the light shines through?” and to discover that simple materials can hold a surprising amount of magic.
